I first noticed I was losing interest in cricket when the various local visitor attractions started becoming more enticing than the actual cricket. It started with the Exporlis Aquarium, which seemed much more enticing way to spend a day than getting a hiding at Downpatrick. Next week it was the Irish linen Museum, which suddenly looks really interesting when you are on your way to play cricket at Lurgan. I knew I had a really bad case of the cricketing blues when Patterson’s Spade Mill seemed a worthy distraction from Muckamore. Things reached a new low last week when I seriously considered going shopping in Larne town centre with my really annoying family instead of fronting up for the game at Sandy Bay… |

Obscurity beckons for Morgan? There is something highly sinister going on in international cricket. Just as Ireland are officially confirmed the biggest minnow on the international scene we have the announcement that our best player is to play for England. Congratulations seem to be in order for Eoin Morgan himself, but there are plenty of reasons to worry that his selection is not going to help anyone bar England. |

They had been scheduled to play away, leaving Larne Thirds and CSNI to clash at Sandy Bay. One un-named official from the local Non Cricketers Union (NCU) spoke out against the decision to play. |

Larne legend Michael "Buckets" Waterman has sensationally announced that he may be close to bringing his 32-year cricket career to a close. He spoke out after an un-savoury argument during Saturday's league game between Instonians seconds and Larne at Shaw's Bridge. A clearly emotional Waterman spoke to journalists on Sunday morning, just hours after the argument that appears to have shattered the once brazen wicket-keepers confidence. |
