2013 Season Review

Another cricket season has come to an end and it proved to be a disappointing one for Larne Cricket Club as the 1st XI were relegated from Section 2 of the Ulster Bank League while the 2nd XI were unable to complete their league campaign because of a lack of players.

2013 Averages

The 2013 averages have now been calculated and are in the Averages section along with updated career averages. On the batting front there were plenty of scores over 20 but just 5 fifties and not enough runs scored. The bowling shows the lack of wickets taken and also economy rates which were too high. The career stats showed that Gareth Gaw has just played his 200th game for the 1sts while Chris Dempsey has just passed both 100 wickets and 1000 runs.

1sts Relegated

The 1sts took on Saintfield on Sunday knowing they needed a win to give them any chance of staying in Section 2 of the Ulster Bank league but they were defeated by 9 wickets and will now play in Section 3 next season. Larne posted 101-5 in their 20 overs but Saintfield cruised to victory losing just 1 wicket on the way - click here for match report.
