Updated Averages

The averages for the 2011 season have now been compiled and can be viewed under the Player menu - they don't make pretty reading !!!! The career averages have also been updated to include the 2011 season.

AGM 2011

The Larne Cricket Club AGM will take place on Thursday 15 September at 7.30 in the Curran Court Hotel. This has obviously been a very difficult season with the club being unable to fulfil several fixtures at 2nd and 3rd XI level and more commitment from members is required to prevent the situation from getting worse. The club would encourage all members who have any connection to the club, young and old, to give up a couple of hours on the 15th to come along and try to rectify the problems. There have been many senior members who can no longer commit the time to playing every week but you may be able to help in another way or even give your opinion on what can be done to move things forward. The opinion of the younger members is equally as important and your help is now required to assist the future running of the club. It is your club and if you wish to see it continue to compete and thrive then now is the time to come forward and get involved. The position of secretary will be available for the 2012 season and someone should be prepared to take on this role.

LCC Golf Day

The club staged its annual golf day on Sunday at an extremely windy and sometimes wet Cairndhu Golf Club (Photos are available from the Photos menu). Eight brave 4 balls turned up to tackle the course and elements and the results are as follows

Recognition For Bobby

Larne CC stalwart Bobby McFettridge was honoured recently when he collected the Services to Sport award at the Larne Borough Council sports awards.

Bobby has been involved with the club since the 1950s and, now aged 82, remains as enthusiastic as ever. He was secretary of the East Antrim midweek league in the 60s and was the clubs scorer right through until 2006 during which time he kept an immaculate book at some of the clubs most memorable matches. In recent years Bobby and his wife Myra have kindly supplied the clubs teas and his hospitality to visiting players and umpires in second to none.

The cricket club is not the only club in the town to have benefitted from Bobbys services as he was treasrer of Larne Tech Old Boys in its early years.

This award is great recognition for someone who has given so much to sport over so many years and he is congratulated by everyone involved with the club.
